Considering Baylor?
If you are considering applying to Baylor, I encourage you to get to know as much about Baylor and the School of Music as possible. Contact me via email (ann_shoemaker@baylor.edu) to set up a lesson. Take lessons with all of your potential teachers! You should find school that feels like a good environment for you over the next four years, and a teacher who you enjoy working with. Do you thrive off of positive feedback, or competition? Do you want a lot of personal attention, or is one hour a week enough time for you with your private teacher? Do you need concrete practice methods, or general ideas? If you don’t know yet, that’s okay. Still take the time to work with each teacher if you can, and get a sense of which lessons felt the most helpful to you.
When you schedule a visit for a lesson, you are welcome to sit in on ensemble rehearsals, meet the students, and set up a campus tour. Just let me know before your visit so that we can help to set it all up.
